Since some months ago I have been”fighting” with my Firefox 3.x when trying to insert the “at symbol” (@) on my Mac computers, but now I have the answer! muhahahaha!

As you know, with Firefox and Mac you can navigate through the different tabs using the key shortcut cmd+number (apple_key+number) and insert an “at symbol” using alt+2. Well, the problem I have had is a kind of alt key reprogramming to act like the cmd key so the shortcut alt+2 was the same that cmd+2 and, every time I needed to insert an @, I had to follow the path: Finder>Edit>Special Characters …>Punctuation annoying!

I have to admit I thought it was a Firefox 3.x problem but it is not! The problem comes from the Speed Dial add-on which replaces the alt function to act different. So the single thing you must to do to recover your @ is to follow the next steps on your Firefox 3.x:

Tools > Add-ons > Speed Dial > Preferences > Controls > Alt-<number> + Do nothing

Thanks to this thread from Macurium for the solution!
